Congratulate Abhinav Bindra -
A star-starved nation found a new sporting icon in a bespectacled marksman as Abhinav Bindra shot his way to history, winning India's first ever individual Olympic gold medal in the 10m Air Rifle event on Monday 11, August 2008 morning.
The 25-year-old Indian shooting ace, who qualified in fourth place for the final, finished with an overall score of (596+104.5) 700.5 in a thrilling finale which went right down to the last shot.
Bindra's historic feat makes him India's first individual gold medallist, bettering the silver medal feat of double trap shooter Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore in Athens 2004.
India's last gold medal at an Olympics came in 1980 when the hockey team emerged triumphant in Moscow. Join us in congratulating the Olympic champion!

Rishi Vs Ranbir
Thoda success Thoda magic! The coveted Yashraj banner might be hoping for some 'success' and lots of 'magic' this time when their youthful ambitious project BACHNA AE HASEENO hits the marquee. It's the successful conglomerate of director Siddharth Anand and composer duo Vishal-Shekhar (V-S) this time and do they create the same magic as they did it in SALAAM NAMASTE? After a spate of mediocre musical releases, can BACHNA AE HASEENO revive the fortunes for the esteemed banner and put them in the race for top honors in the charts? Apparently it has everything going in their favor- peppy vocals, chirpy lyrics and a set of rollicking musical outburst that can really pulsate 'haseeno' (Bipasha Basu, Deepika Padukone and Minnisha Lamba) to the beats of most eligible bachelor (Ranbir Kapoor). So without a moments delay, let us check it out!
If the soundtrack is anything to go by, BAH seems like a winner all the way, and the eye-caressing locales and visuals bode well for Ranbir Kapoor, who is in need of a much-needed follow-up to the sordid Saawariya saga. Will this finally prove ke Ranbir kisise kum nahin? Only time will tell, but in the interim, watch out for "Bachna...".
